Here's the breakdown.
My stupid PC failed to boot up last night after emitting a few
"cluck cluck" sounds.
Opened up the damned thing and found out that it was the hard
disk.
After replacing everything and reboot...
It gives me this :
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.
So I called up IBM. They gave me a few options :
1. Call an on site guy down for consultation $220(excluding parts)
...siao.
2. Bring the PC down to their diagnostic center ($50) and asked me
to prepare to get a replacement harddisk which is $498(before
gst)...siao
3. Find a replacement harddisk which may be compatible to their set
and bring down to their diagnostic center and borrow recovery disk
to install OS -windows xp (which may or may not work)...
>.<"<br /><br />4. Get a new PC. (sigh..)<br
/><br />Ok I wanna be able to retrieve the data inside of
the old harddisk. Which is why I am hesitant to do a system wipe.
Is there any way to repair the harddisk without getting a new one ?
Or any way to try to transfer the data out before doing a system
recovery ?<br /><br /><img
